Ohio’s Election Successes
by Lauren B. Goode, DNC National Committeewoman (OH)
One year after the Ohio Young Democrats launched its successful Run 2005 program to energize more young people about running for office, several Young Democrats earned election to the Ohio General Assembly this year.
Additionally, several others earned appointments to legislative offices by succeeding office holders who were elected to other offices.
Jay Goyal was elected to represent the 73rd District, an area that was once represented by then-Young Dem Sherrod Brown. Dan Dodd beat back attacks to win election in the 93rd House District. Capri Cafaro, 29, was appointed to serve the remainder of Attorney General Marc Dann’s term in the State Senate.
Members of the Ohio Young Democrats served as integral leaders in many of the election victories throughout the state. A special congratulations goes to OYD Treasurer Sarah Briggs who is the Political Director of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus, which won seven seats this year – the most gains in 34 years.

First for Women Flying Under Election Radar
By Allison Stevens - Washington Bureau Chief
Democrats are hoping to retake control of the U.S. House in November's
midterm election. That could mean more female lawmakers sitting in
seats of power, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi, who could become the first
female Speaker of the House.

Winning in Montana (from Barack Obama)
That's why I'm asking you to join me in supporting Democrat Jon Tester's campaign for U.S. Senate by making a contribution today:
http://www.testerforsenate.com/support
In order to change the culture of Washington, we need to work together to elect progressive Democrats who share our values --- Democrats like Jon Tester.
As President of the Montana State Senate, Jon Tester has led the fight on successful progressive legislation in his state, working to ensure that health care and prescription drugs are more accessible and affordable; making historic investments in public education; and enabling Montana to become a leader in clean and renewable energy.
And as a former music teacher and a small farmer who still works the same land his grandfather homesteaded more than 90 years ago, Jon knows first hand how much regular people - working families, seniors, minorities and young people - need a voice in our nation's capitol.
He's the type of person that you'd want on your side, anywhere. And we need him on our side in the U.S. Senate:

Jon Tester is running against incumbent Republican Senator Conrad Burns - the man who has taken more money from admitted felon and D.C. lobbyist Jack Abramoff and his associates than any other member of the House and Senate.
Polls show the race is tight as Election Day nears - but we know that the Burns campaign and the beltway Republicans are going to spend millions in special interest money in the closing weeks to try and smear Jon Tester's record of doing what's right for Montana.
We can't let them get away with that. Jon's campaign has been about standing up for what's right - for clean energy, affordable health care, and investment in our children's education - and we need to stand with him.
Please join me in showing your support by contributing $25, $50, $100 or more to the Tester campaign today:
http://www.testerforsenate.com/support
I believe voters know that real change is coming this November - and that change will begin in Montana with the election of Jon Tester to the United States Senate.
Thank you for taking action.
Sincerely,
U.S. Senator Barack Obama
