Team UNITY Survey

What Do You Want YDA to be?

One of the things which most defines Team Unity is the core belief that YDA’s own members have the clearest vision of the great potential and future within our organization.

It is our members at the local level who know best what it takes to succeed in their individual communities.  It is our members who can most rapidly identify the needs of their chapters – and it is our membership as a whole that can help meet those needs.  We, the members of YDA, are our own greatest resource, for when we share our talents and vision freely with one another, the entire organization grows stronger.

Today, we are asking you to share some of your own visions for YDA.   Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts with us.  It will be compiled and shared as we approach YDA Convention.

Background:

1) How long have you been a member of the Young Democrats?

2) At which level would you say that you are the most active?

3) Have you attend a YDA national meeting in the past?

If Yes,

3a) Did you learn new skills or information at the national meeting which could be used by your state?

3b) What would you like to see/do at a future national meeting?

If No,

3a) What was the primary reason for you not attending?

3b) What would you hope to do at a national meeting?

General Activities:

Does your state or chapter do or have any of the following?

  • Campaign Training Programs
  • Campaign Invasions
  • Petitions
  • Candidate Endorsements
  • Community Service
  • Affinity Group based caucuses
  • Representation at the state/local party level
  • Issue Debates
  • Candidate Forums
  • Lobby Days
  • Other:

Do you feel as though you receive sufficient information from the YDA leadership about the goals and activities of YDA as a whole?

Do you think the YDA leadership is responsive to the needs and concerns of your chapter?

Electoral Activities:

1) During the last election cycle, YDA concentrated the vast majority of its resources in five states.  If YDA continues with this model, what do you think the selection process for targeted states should be?

2) How could YDA be more helpful to your chapter’s efforts during campaign season?

Future of YDA:

Of the ideas below, which would you most like to see in your state (please rank your priority for each idea.  If an idea does not interest you, do not rank it.)

  • - A speaker exchange program (where chapters help ID potential guest speakers traveling to a region where another YD chapter exists, so that we can have an opportunity to diversify the individuals who visit with our members)
  • - A graphic design artist at YDA whose skills could be made available to state/local chapters
  • - A database of event ideas and reports that can be used to recreate successful events in your area
  • - Campaign training programs organized by YDA
  • - Shared event calendars where chapters can learn about events in neighboring states
  • - National YDA Lobby Day(s)
  • - National Legislative Action Alerts
  • - YDA leadership helping to coordinate meetings between local YDs and national level speakers visiting their area.

Is there anything you would like to add to this list?
